Popular Styles of Garden Furniture

Garden furniture is used all over the world, especially in places with warm and moderate climates. There is a variety of different garden furniture (Gartenmöbel) available on the market, which is also referred to as outdoor furniture or outside furniture. Some of the most popular types of garden furniture include garden benches, dining sets, lounger chairs, umbrellas, and adirondacks. Most garden furniture designs revolve around eating or relaxation, with dining suites being the most common outdoor setting of all.

Outdoor eating and entertainment has become very popular over the last few decades, as more people build dedicated outdoor areas like patios, pergolas, awnings, pool areas, and decks. Along with a variety of styles, outdoor furniture can also be made from many different materials, including wood, plastic, and metal.

By far the most common item of garden furniture is the outdoor dining suite, which normally involves a table and a set of fitting chairs. A number of different sizes are available, with the most common sets consisting of four, six, or eight seats. Benches are also relatively common in gardens around the world, and are often made from hardwood products like teak. Durability is very important in outdoor furniture, and hardwood products that can withstand the elements are very desirable in the outdoor furniture market. While plastic furniture is readily available and often cheaper than wood, it generally does not last as long and is not as durable in extreme weather conditions. Garden furniture made from iron is also readily available, with many styles of benches, dining tables, and chairs made from iron and other metals.

In terms of relaxation furniture for the great outdoors, there are a growing number of different styles dedicated to lounge style seating. These kind of garden lounge chairs are regularly seen in pool areas, and also on decks and balconies where people sunbath. Adirondack chairs, also known as Muskoka chairs, are a specific style of outdoor lounge chair with a high back, wide arm rests, and contoured seat. Other relaxing deep seating chairs are also available for use outdoors, many of which are designed as add-ons to dining suites and outside tables.
